    Hi Chris …

Enjoyed your rant on Facebook. Tough love talk was excellent.

Hope you’re willing to answer one question for me.

As one who would like to break into freelancing, in your opinion, what is the most expedient path? Writer’s Market or is there another, smarter, better, faster way?

    Thanks for sharing your insight.

I think it is different for everybody. Obviously the adage “who you know” comes into play quite a bit. Networking is huge, and you’ll be surprised at how you can find freelance work just by networking with the right people. I got a copywriting contract once because somebody on Linkedin saw some of my creative writing on my web profile. Who knew.

Have a web portfolio. Write about what you know, interests, or the life you live. Network with people you think could be potentially beneficial connections, and find your niche.

    It’s me, evil OTL nemesis!

You’ll hate me soon enough. Well, if things go according to plan! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

  5. Hi Chris, I am new to blogging. Am working on a project with Tomi. Ahonen, mobile guru, on HK Moible, digital media, mobile marketing. I have a section on Made in HK, Happenings in HK that I am looking to interview folks IN HK, that do anything mobile, medial, advertising. Interested in having a chat? Thinking to start a blogroll to include blogs like yours.

    Hi Chris,

My name is Devon Borst and I am a young transnational individual currently working for a large media conglomerate in Hong Kong. Much like yourself I suppose. My interests include posting culturally relative information on the internet, sub-par grammar and being transnational .

I hope that as time progresses we cn be good friends and perhaps one day I may even provide you with a reference on a resume. Im sure you would like that.

    Hello Devon,

I would be happy to help you break into the industry. Are you willing to get me coffee, polish my wooden leg, and be a sycophant?

You know who I am. Don’t play.

You need to tell Devon about the squirrels. If he can’t feel his nuts to the squirrels, he’s worthless.

    You magnificent bastard editor, you.

  9. Chris Says:

Devon is well aware of the squirrels. >_<

Congrats on all your success. I wish I had the stamina to maintain a blog, a Twitter and all that other stuff. You are an inspiration to us all. Someday, you and I will slow down enough to actually collaborate on something. We’ll probably be in the old folk’s home by then, and we’ll be collaborating on a shuffleboard game, but damn it, it’ll be awesome anyway.
